I’m on a wreath kick, this is not what some would see as one but it is. And to think it’s only September.I made this with pages from a romance novel. Not that I read romance novels but it was being thrown away, so hey why not recycle. Here’s were I got the idea, I’ll work on getting better. Vintage Paper Wreath I have a few more things going on. I’ll get around to posting them.

I haven’t posted in a while it’s not because I don’t want to, I do but I’ve been busy and by the time I get to a quite place in my day I just want to lay down.
I’ve strated a crochet circle at my job, oh joy and it’s been steady for a couple of months now. I think we’ve hit a good grove with the women that show up, which there were more or at the very least one man, but we can’t have it all.
Since I haven’t posted in a while I’ve taken to walking around with pad and pen to jot somethings down when I think of them. I’m also going to link to a few sites that I’ve come across. It’s amazing how I was thinking about teaching a class on making paper baskets and the creative Goddess was good to me. I came across a site were someone is doing just that.
So never fear, I’ve been thinking about alot lately.
I’ll get to it.
And ofcourse more crocheting.

I’ve been crocheting so much I’ve gotten a sour spot on my pinky. What to do? Well on one of the blogs I read which of course I can’t remember right now. The idea was to put a rubber ring around the needle. I think it’s to help with holding the needle, but I suspect it might help with my callous. I was telling my plight to a friend who I’ve made some items for. They suggested that I crochet through the pain. What are friends for? hehe

I’ve had a great idea which I’m still working on. Or perfected. I wrote that since I wear my hair rather short. I wanted to make something that would add some flare, head bands are not new to the work and certainly not new to world of crochet. But while thinking of this, and since I tend to get other ideas while crocheting on a project. Something like free writing In the middle of my headband I cut the yarn, which lucky for me fit around my neck and behold a chocker of sorts. Then taking my headband idea I made some re-movible attachments.
Iwill get back to the headbands but thought these came out preaty well.

Above are the bands and the heart and flow I made to add to them or remove. Depending on my mood.

While looking through one of the many crochet books at the library. I came across some beautiful caplets, all which were knitted. But anything they can do I can try to do better. hehe Here are two that I made over the past two weeks. One with a purple worst weight yarn. The other with a cotton yarn.
Both I got to show at the circle yesterday. I think I’m offically tapped out on caplets. I’m moving on to making re-usable headbands.
Hope to have some pictures up soon.

This is the yarn I’ve bought since March. And these are the bags I’ve stored the yarn in since then.
After a couple of times tripping over them and never being able to see what I have I did it. I went to the container store on 18th street and brought a bin. Passing 15th street chanting my mantra for the day. I will not go to the lion brand store, I will not go to the lion brand store. I white knuckled it twice and made it to the train.
This is the bin I will hopefully be able to keep my yarn in order. I have to come up with a system to keep all the wools and cotton and such in order. But baby steps.

Last winter I made my way downtown to check out the wonderful Lion Brand store. In our class it was suggested that we go to the site a during the course our final exam as it were was to do a finished project. There list on the site was the new grand opening of the Lion Brand store. Hence my trek to union square, but alas while counting the numbers on the building I came up to a building that was closed. Only a sign saying the store would be opening in January or some month, I can’t remember. Also that delivery goes to the second floor and a card pointing to the bell. I stood there looking at the card in amazement. Really amazement, what to do? I know I’ll trek to 1st avenue to knitty city, no surprise there very expensive yarn and the few crochet hooks were hidden in a draw not available to the public. Lest they would disturb the knitters delicate sensibilities.
So here’s the thing, I finally make another trek over to the now opened Lion Brand store it’s a yarn wonderland, items from the site are displayed and for sale, because this is America, they have computers to print patterns for you and the staff are helpful. As I brows I’m in heaven. I even start to hum to myself while touching every ball of yarn I pass. I mean ever skein of yarn I pass. Real yarn talk, you have to be a little impressed for someone who took up crochet seriously in October, huh? So I’ve finally made my selection or selections since I went a little yarn crazy. I ask where the crochet hooks are, finding them I search and finally find a few in a little basket at the end of a long shelf full of knitting needles. I head over to the counter to ask if there were any more crochet hooks. The woman pulls out this long draw behind the counter and there like water in an oasis are all the crochet hooks in letter order. My first thought was to complain, but thought better of it. so remembering my Grandmother words of wisdom, I remained a lady and said “ there they are hiding in the back so they don’t cause any trouble.” The women got my sarcasm as her check turned a bit red. Okay so maybe I could have been a nit more of a lady and let it go? But I just couldn’t. The lion brand store is great I’ve gone back twice and the month isn’t even over yet. But I feel like this is the only game in town and I have no choice in the matter.
And on that note, I’ve realized that this is clearly craft discrimination.
